Occupational Rehabilitation/Risk Management

This document sets out the procedures for Occupational Rehabilitation/Risk Management.

2. Purpose:

The purpose of this procedure is to standardise and meet legislative requirements in the provision of Occupational Rehabilitation/Risk Management.

4.1. No Definitions exists

5. Procedure

5.1. In the event of an accident occurring a thorough investigation will be undertaken, to as far as practicable reduce the risk of subsequent injury of that kind.

5.2. Effective Workcover claims management is undertaken to ensure that injured employees receive appropriate compensation and that the organisation minimises its losses.

5.3. Rehabilitation will commence as soon as possible after illness or injury.

5.4. Early reporting and early intervention at the workplace to enable the worker to stay at work, if appropriate.

5.5. Any necessary first aid or medical treatment will be provided as soon as possible.

5.6. All documentation is to be completed and reported promptly.

5.7. That return to work as soon as safely possible after injury is a normal practise and expectation.

5.8. Suitable duties will be provided where possible as part of the rehabilitation and return to work program which do not jeopardise the wellbeing of the worker.

5.9. There will be full involvement of worker in their own rehabilitation / return to work.

5.10. An individual return to work plan will be developed by the return to work Co-ordinator and the injured worker will be discussed with the workers treating doctor.

5.11. Confidentiality of workers information be maintained.

5.12. Participation a return to work plan will not itself prejudice any worker.

5.13. The progress of return to work plans will be monitored in consultation with the worker to ensure they are operating effectively.

5.14. The person responsible for ensuring the organisations plan is implemented is the Branch Manager.
